~ Drifting ~
by

Drifting out to sea
no sails to guide my way
I lay upon a rotting corpse
of all my yesterdays
Horizons aimed for fade from sight
Tempestuous is my soul
I wait; I watch; no star to guide me
I'm slave to current's flow
Solid ground is far from view
Unsteady is my world
I sit, I wait, I hope, I fear
Dark waters start to swirl
Lightening flashes as storm rolls in
Thunder damns the earth
A tear is lost in ocean's depth
A whimper never heard
Icy winds fill darkened sky
I'm far from Heaven's end
Waves of anger crash all around
~ the echo of hell's revenge
Death calls loudly, its warm breath sweet
its knowing hands woo me passionately
but I remain here lost and set adrift
trusting God will remember me
Until He comes and guides me Home
beyond lightening, storm and thunder
I'll dare to cling to Hope's pontoon
and my soul I once again surrender
