~ Starting Over ~
It's turned my heart and head towards it so much that it is opening my eyes to the wonderment of each new day.
I procrastinate a lot. In fact, in working to better my writing skills and finish my novels, I have become quite proficient in the art of procrastination. But the more I hear 'starting over is possible', and the more I take note that golden opportunities await me each new day, the more I realise what a thief procrastination is. As is fear. As is wishful thinking - you know, the type we do while sitting on our hands doubting 'it' can be ours. As is wanting to go back to Yesterday, even though you know that's not possible.
Life is happening Today. It may not be exactly as you wish it to be, or will it to be, but it's happening now. And it's up to you whether you seek out the golden opportunities or sit around waiting for Yesterday to return. However, if you choose the latter, do not forget that Yesterday always looks better when looking through rose-coloured glasses, and we always put those on when Today doesn't look too great. We have a habit of forgetting that 'it' wasn't that great, ay.
Take off the glasses. Stop looking back. Put the memories away and aim to make new ones. It's time to live. Today. Wherever you are. Whoever you are.
Life may not be the bed of roses you hoped for, but, hey, have you seen the daisies? The lilies? The daffodils? Tulips are my favourite anyway. I don't want the bed of roses. ;) What I'm saying is, sometimes you have to let go of the fantasy and find the beauty in the reality you've been given. But the bed of flowers need not be locked away in your room, or rooted to the soil of your soul. Imagine it to be a field of great beauty, of adventure, of life and love and hope and safety, then run into it with all your heart. You may stumble, you may fall, but you can always get up and go again, especially as the 'field' is your life. It's yours. Take it. Own it. Enjoy it.
We who know God know this: He is the God of second chances. And with Him there is always another chance, another new day, the freedom to get up and try again. Even if you feel you've failed Him. He is so full of grace, love and mercy. He stands there waiting for you to want to try again, then He helps you do it, dusting off the dust of failure, washing away the blood of guilt, granting you a better day, a better life, a greater joy. It's one of the things He does best. :)
Live. Laugh. Love. Then do it all again with passion. xxx
