I don't have a busy lifestyle. I don't think I ever have. Even while being married with 6 young kids our life wasn't overly busy. We (hubby and I) chose to have it that way. We wanted it that way. We like it that way. But recently I've watched how I can claim I don't have a busy life and yet see so many things in my life be neglected...and why? I'm so distracted by Facebook...! lol Not FB's fault; it's mine, of course. But I find myself 'just checking' and there goes another hour or two.
I'm deactivating my FB account later today, because I can't seem to discipline myself to not check for messages... Who knew I was so sociable, ay! ;)
Anyway...
Moving on, letting go, starting new, stepping out, and other such moments can be pretty sad, ay. I feel a sense of loss closing Facebook, and not just because I'm going to need to find something else to fill my time with - I have that already, but because of faces I will miss. Yet, when I am really honest with myself, how many of those faces do I connect with these days? And how many of those I know in real life are put on hold in the 'real world' because I connected with them on Facebook?
Have you ever done that? Felt the need to socialise so you hop online to interact with others, then, after a time, you feel the need to be on your own, so you turn off your computer, but then an event rises in the real world, or a cuppa invitation is there, or something like that, but you're now "socialised" out and you really need a break so you don't attend...? What I'm getting at is, as great as social networking can be when used right, I've found I have less time for people offline, and that I miss; that I ache for.
And I need to write... FB gives me that opportunity for a 15 minute ad-break...Only, the "ad-break" during writing or working on photos, and everything else I do on my computer, tends to turn into movie-length time. lol... I'm not very disciplined that way. Which reminds me, I'm in the middle of deactivating my FB account - I need to check on messages... Be back soon. ;)
For those of you on FB that will read this, first of all, thank you for taking the time to do so, and know that just because I'm not on there, I'm still online somewhere if you'd like to connect, (Twitter, Redbubble, NEW Pinterest, this website, EMAIL: [email protected], oh, and Goodreads!), and you will be thought of, prayed for, and may one day have to put up with my ramblings again when I can stay away from FB no longer...
Until then, God bless you and your loved ones greatly, and in every area of your lives.
